The Atlantic Heights neighborhood has a storied history. The cluster of red brick homes was designed in 1918 and was the country’s first federally funded housing project. The goal back then was to provide housing for skilled workers who were needed to build ships for WWI. In 1925, The US Govt. sold the development at Auction. 20 years ago the Atlantic Heights school was converted to housing for seniors and people with disabilities. There are 30 units.
