The grand marshal this year was Raymond Goulet of Portsmouth. Goulet, 94, is a World War II veteran who survived D-Day after landing with the first wave of soldiers on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France, in 1944.
“Mr. Goulet fought for peace and represents the spirit of this year’s parade theme, ‘Peace on Earth’,” said Brinn Sullivan, the city’s senior coordination and Portsmouth’s parade coordinator.
