<p><strong>PHA Moving to Work Application Available for Public Review</strong></p>

<p>The Portsmouth Housing Authority (PHA) has developed its plan &amp; application package for the Moving to Work (MTW) Demonstration Program offered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It is available for review &amp; public comment at our main office located at 245 Middle Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801. If you have any questions, please reach out to Executive Assistant Mary Kelliher directly at 603-957-2358 or maryk@nh-pha.com. Alternatively, the PHA&rsquo;s main number is 603-436-4310. The public comment period ends on November 21, 2023 at 3PM. The PHA is open Monday 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday 8:30AM to 4:30PM, and Friday 8:30 AM to 12 PM.</p>

<p>A <strong>public hearing will be held on November 21, 2023</strong> at the Authority&rsquo;s office at<strong> 1:00 PM</strong>, located at 245 Middle Street, Portsmouth, NH. The hearing will be to discuss our application for this special program. <span style="font-family: Inter, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, 'Apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol';">This program gives public housing authorities (PHAs) like ours a chance to create and test new ideas that help use federal funds better. It aims to support residents in finding jobs, becoming more independent, and providing more housing options for families with low incomes.</span></p>

<p>The PHA is proud of our Resident Services Coordinator Andrea Pickett for being chosen as one of only ten presenters at TEDx Portsmouth 2023, held at The Music Hall on May 12.&nbsp; Andrea was selected from one of the most competitive fields of applicants in the history of the event in Portsmouth. &nbsp;Andrea spoke eloquently about the impediments low-income people have in accessing important services, and the importance of having those who are consumers of these programs at the table when programs are being designed and implemented.&nbsp;</p>
